Sundarakanda
Sarga 46
This is a special Sarga. This Sarga has the first Sloka of the fourteenth thousand (13001st Sloka). That also means it has the fourteenth Gayatri syllable 'Dhi".
The corresponding Sloka is as follows.
savājirathamātaṅgāḥ sa kapiḥ śāsyatāmiti|
nāvamānyō bhavadbhiśca kapiḥ dhīraparākramaḥ||
The meaning is as follows: "Go along with an army of chariots horses and elephants. Punish the Vanara. The Vanara is a great warrior, do not disrespect him".
Govindaraja in his commentary records as follows. - atra trayōdaśa sahasraślōkāḥ gatāḥ| ayaṁ caturdaśasahasra ādiḥ| dhīti gāyatyā caturdaśākṣaram|
According to Govindaraja thirteen thousand Slokas are completed here. This is the beginning of the fourteenth thousand of slokas. That means this sloka number is 13001.
The fourteenth syllable of Gayatri "dhī" is embedded in this Sloka. As stated earlier, the sloka with the gayatri syllable ("gāyatri bījākṣarāḥÓ) is considered as a Mantra. This Sloka comes in the context of the Ravana's advise to the Generals.
Being the Sloka with the fourteenth Gayatri syllable and being the first Sloka of the fourteenth thousand, this sloka is also treated as a Mantra.

||Sloka 46.01||
hatān maṁtrisutān buddhvā vānarēṇa mahātmanā|
rāvaṇaḥ saṁvr̥tākāraḥ cakāra matimuttamām||46.01||
sa|| mahātmanā vānarēṇa maṁtrisutān hatān (iti) buddhvā rāvaṇaḥ saṁvr̥tākāraḥ uttamām matiṁ cakāra||
Tilaka TiKa says - saṁvr̥tākārō nigr̥hīta antargata bhayaḥ| suppressing his internal fear|

mahātmanā vānarēṇa -
by the great Vanara,
maṁtrisutān hatān (iti) buddhvā-
knowing that the minister's sons have been killed
rāvaṇaḥ saṁvr̥tākāraḥ -
Ravana concealing his agony
uttamām matiṁ cakāra -
applied his mind

"Ravana knowing that the minister's sons have been killed by the great Vanara, concealing his agony , applied his mind.' ||46.01||
The Sarga starts with poet saying,
rāvaṇaḥ saṁvr̥tākāraḥ cakāra matimuttamām |
saṁvr̥tākāraḥ - means the one who conceals his feelings.
Who is the one concealing his feelings? rāvaṇaḥ Ravana.
Kinkaras have been killed. Jambumali has been killed. The seven sons of the ministers have also been killed. Ravana knew of Vanaras Vali and Sugriva. He knew of Nila and Dvivida. But the Vanara destroying the Ashok van seemed to be different.
Ravana did not want others to know that he is concerned. So, hiding his feelings, Ravana "cakāra matimuttamām"; applied his best thoughts".
Ravana decide to ask the generals who were with him in earlier battles.

sa virūpākṣayūpākṣau durdharaṁ caiva rākṣasam |

||Sloka summary||
"The Ten-headed one commanded the five army generals Virupaksha, Yupaksha, Praghasa, Bhasakarna and Durdhara who are warriors skilled in statecraft, to capture in the battle Hanuman who equals wind god in speed ."
These are the generals who fought along with him and won battles against Devas.

sēnāgragāḥ sarvē -
o army generals, all of you
mahābalaparigrahāḥ savājirathamātaṁgāḥ -
accompanied by large army along with horses, elephants, and chariots

The thought being presented by Ravana is that since we defeated them , in return they may be trying to create trouble , coming here in the form of a Vanara.

yāta sēnāgragāḥ sarvē mahābala parigrahāḥ ||46.09||

'nāvamānyō haridbhiśca harirdhīraparākramaḥ' etc , this is the start of the fourteenth thousand of Slokas. This Sloka has the fourteenth syllable of Gayatri , namely 'dhī' in the word "dhīraparākramaḥ".

Because this is the first Sloka of the fourteenth thousand, with the fourteenth letter of Gayatri, it is considered as a Mantra. As a Mantra it can be used for meditation etc.
